I mess around sometimes with sketches for various scifi things, just realy quick concepts that may take like 5-10 minutes of fast sketchin.
like, for example, this one - a cruiser type that I did a few years ago, orientation is coming towards the viewer at an upward angle so mostly so the viewer sees the side and ventral sections of the ship. I usually do multiple views of one thing.

But this next one is a very roughout quick sketch i this morning while over at my parents house (I come in to visit, and fix their computer)

Minmatar 'Wolverine' Binary Assault Rifle
Round type: 9mm Sabot with a 7mm projectile caseless round Magazine: 40 rounds top-load magazine, binary propellant canister good for 400 rounds of fire.
Description: Designed with the Minmatar view in mind that strives to throw as many rounds downrange as possible in the shortest period of time, the Wolverine utilizes a binary propellant system to rapidly fire 9mm saboted rounds from its top-loading magazine. the propellant is stored in a two-chamber propellant canister that is slotted into the stock, on firing the canister injects two highly volatile chemical compounds into the firing chamber, explosively reacting in an instant and sending each round downrange. The propellant canister itself is good for 400 rounds of firing before it needs to be changed.
The round that the Wolverine fires is a 9mm sabot with a 7mm penetrator, the sabot sheeding as the round leaves the barrel and letting the penetrator fly free, concentrating the kinetic power of the round in a smaller spot, the top magazine holds 40 rounds of caseless sabot ammunition. The firing mechanism allows for single and full automatic fire as well, later versions are planned to have 4 round burst capacity - allowing each weapon to fire 10 bursts of rounds before a new magazine is needed.
The sight is mounted on the side of the wqeapon, and can be easily changed for left-handed shooters, the weapon can also be easily hipfired, tied into helmet targeters, or used with a sling for fire.
this weapon is caseless by design, and ejects no round casings to interfere with the shooter - making it easily usable by right and left handed troopers.
Enterprising Minmatar soldiers have been known to use fuel canisters as makeshift grenades, as the two compounds stored in the propellant canioster will explosively ignite the moment they come into contact with one another.
more detailed sketches as i get around to them, this is just a rough fan conjecture idea. ;) |

lol
here's a cookie then

Quote:Caseless rifles like the g11?
in a different way, yes. The G11 had its projectile inside a block of explosive with the primer in the bottom. when the primer went off, it blew the projectile free of its explosive block as the main charge went off almost simultaneously.
The idea behind a binary weapon like this is that the 9mm sabot is there to house the projectile and form a seal in the barrel until the round leaves the barrel. it works by mixing two chemical compounds in the firing chamber that are stable by themselves but explosively volatile when mixed.
but I digress, lol... I yak too much sometimes.
Anyway, the 'wolverine' is inspired by the classic British .303 Bren Gun
